Create drills with AI
Experimental
Describe a drill in a sentence, and an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini writes it as an animated board you can open, edit and share. Nothing is uploaded to us: you copy a prompt to your own assistant and paste its answer into the board.
How it works
- Copy the prompt. It teaches the assistant how the board works: the pitch, the players and how animation frames fit together.
-
Start a new chat and paste it as your first message.
Then describe the drill you want, for example:
7v7 field, U10 boys, drill for building out of the back in a 1-2-3-1
Half pitch, U12 girls: a finishing drill with a cross from the right and runs to the near and far post
4v2 rondo in a square for U11s; a defender wins the ball and swaps with the passer
-
Copy the assistant's answer (the block that starts
with
{ "kind": "tactical-board-document") and open the board. Press Paste from AI at the top of the board (on a phone it is in the File menu), paste, and press Open on board. - If the board reports a problem, press Copy feedback for the AI, paste that into the chat, and the assistant sends a corrected drill. Then press play, and drag anything that is not quite right.
Which assistant to use
A drill is a long, exact document: every player is listed in every frame. Use the most capable model your assistant offers, with "thinking" or "reasoning" switched on if there is such a setting. Small, fast models tend to lose track of positions between frames.
Tested in October 2026 with one request each ("7v7 field, U10 boys, drill for building out of the back in a 1-2-3-1"), one attempt, no corrections. One drill is a small sample, so treat this as a starting point.
A 22-player animation is several thousand words of output. If a reply stops part-way, ask for a smaller drill (fewer players or frames) or ask the assistant to send the whole document again.

Good to know
- The assistant is not a coach. Check that the drill suits your players, and adjust it on the board.
- Say what matters to you: the age group, the format (7v7, 9v9, 11v11), full or half pitch, how many players, and the coaching point.
- Ask for changes in plain words: "make it 5 frames", "add a second defender", "show the switch to the other side".
- Opening a drill replaces the current board. Undo brings it back.
This is new, and we would like to hear how it works for you, including which assistant you used: [email protected] or open an issue.
